Presteigne
Four of our properties are in Presteigne and all within a very short walk of the town centre itself (see our self catering cottages on a map). Therefore, you can book more than one property (subject to availability) in any combination for even larger groups. We genuinely can cater for the lone visitor or groups from 2 to 28 people!
Presteigne is a pretty unspoilt border town with black and white half timbered buildings. Its history was built on wool and the cloth trade and subsequently became the county town of old Radnorshire and has one of the county's finest churches - St Andrews, which looks like a small cathedral.
A thriving community, Presteigne hosts a number of cultural festivals during the year. The Judge's Lodgings museum is an award winning attraction with an appeal to all ages, which also hosts Tourist Information Centre.
There is a town trail leaflet which guides visitors around some of the historical buildings and sites. This can be downloaded here.
The town is also ideal for exploring the Welsh Marches, whether walking or Cycling and as a touring base for visiting historic sites and gardens or just admiring the stunning scenery. Our locations page has more information and other useful links relevant to the town.
Knighton
Knighton is a small and picturesque medieval border town. It is a popular and unique tourist town in Wales, steeped in history. As a centre for walking activities, Offa's Dyke Centre in Knighton is positioned at about the halfway point of the Offa's Dyke Path National Trail and at the start of the Glyndwr's Way National Trail (see walks). The Welsh town name "Tref-y-Clawdd" even means the town on the dyke. The Offa's Dyke Centre includes the town's Tourist Infomation Centre and has a picnic area and playground for younger children. A short walk from the centre takes you to a tranquil riverside setting, before you follow the river towards the northern half of the Dyke itself.
Kinsley Villa itself is technically in Shropshire (England), as it lies across the river Teme from the main town.
The town hosts a wonderful range of interesting art, crafts and antique shops to browse, as well as a wide range of more traditional outlets. The town also hosts a regular animal market as Knighton is still plays a pivotal role for the local farming community. There are several public houses and restaurants offering variety for all age groups.
Round and About
