Knighton

Knighton golf course

Knighton Golf Course offers one of the best rounds in central Wales. It boasts everything that a great course should; wonderful views from nearly every hole, a challenge that differs from hole to hole and enough character to keep you interested even if you are not playing at your best.

The Locations

Presteigne

Presteigne is a pretty unspoilt border town with black and white half timbered buildings. Its history was built on wool and the cloth trade and subsequently became the county town of old Radnorshire and has one of the county's finest churches - St Andrews, which looks like a small cathedral. A thriving community, Presteigne hosts a number of cultural festivals during the year. The Judge's Lodgings museum is an award winning attraction with an appeal to all ages. The town is also ideal for exploring the Welsh Marches, as a touring base and visiting historic sites and gardens.

For more details of local services and amenities, see Presteigne.com

Knighton

Knighton is a small and picturesque medieval border town. The town is situated on Offa's Dyke long distance path and hosts the Offa's Dyke visitors centre, which also doubles as the Tourist Information Office. The town has a pretty clock tower and you don’t have to go far to get lovely views along the Teme Valley. The town boasts a wide range of shops to browse for bargains both old and new.

Knighton is also on the Heart of Wales line from Shrewsbury to Llanelli & Swansea. The railway journey is a must as it meanders towards Swansea in the south and to Shrewsbury in the north, taking in 120 miles of glorious and varying country. Please be aware that there are only 4 trains in each direction, so care must be taken to plan ahead and not miss the last train home!

There are several public houses and restaurants offering variety for all age groups. Coupled with the local take-away outlets, our guests could almost get away without using Kinsley Villa's refitted kitchen at all. However, the town hosts numerous grocery stores from bakers and butchers to Harry Tuffins supermarket (almost a tourist attraction in its own right!).

For cyclists, Knighton and Presteigne are home to one of three Cycle Break Centres across Mid Wales and the Brecon Beacons. Knighton itself is on the Radnor Ring, an 84 mile route along quiet lanes.

Well worth a visit, just outside Knighton is the Spaceguard Centre. Spaceguard UK is the national focus in the UK for studies into the threat posed to the Earth by collisions with asteroids and comets, and has recently established the privately funded Spaceguard Centre at the former Powys Observatory. We welcome visitors to the Spaceguard Centre. Come and see what we do, learn about Spaceguard and experience the wonders of astronomy.
